Advanced Refinish started in Austin in 1986 as a one-man operation. Today our crews have refinished more than 50,000 tubs across Central Texas, and the work has not changed: refinishing, also called reglazing or resurfacing. Our technicians have been with us for years, and every one of them was trained here, on our process, before working in a customer’s home.
We’re local and family-owned, so there are no franchise fees in your price. Text us photos and we’ll have a price back to you, usually the same day, or we’ll come out and take a look. On the day of the job we mask off the room, ventilate it, refinish in 3 to 5 hours and leave it clean. Non-slip surfacing and odor reduction are available on request.
Bathtub, tile, shower, sink and countertop refinishing, plus chip, crack and fiberglass repair
Bathtub refinishing
Porcelain, cast iron, acrylic and fiberglass, including clawfoot and slipper tubs.
Jetted tubs and jet removal
When the jets quit, we remove them, seal the openings and refinish the tub as a soaker. Few companies will touch a jetted tub.
Chip and crack repair
Chips, cracks, rust around the drain and old fixture holes, filled and blended to match the tub.
Fiberglass tub and shower repair
Cracked fiberglass, shower pans and tub floors that give underfoot, rebuilt from below with structural foam and fiberglass.
Tile and surround refinishing
Dated tile walls, tub surrounds and floors given a new color and a new surface, grout lines and all, without demolition.
Shower refinishing
Fiberglass and tile stalls, walls and pans, sealed and refinished so they clean up like new.
Countertops and cultured marble
Vanity tops, kitchen counters, cultured marble and laminate, refinished in a solid color or a stone-look finish.
Sink refinishing
Bathroom, kitchen, farmhouse and pedestal sinks, including cast iron.

Chip, crack and hole repair before the finish goes on
Damage is repaired first and then refinished over, so it disappears under the new finish. A fiberglass tub floor worn through its finish, start to finish:

Jetted tub refinishing and jet removal, for when the jets quit.
When a jetted tub stops circulating, water sits in the lines behind the wall and mold grows where no brush can reach. Most repair companies won’t touch one. We remove the jets, seal every opening and refinish the whole tub, so you keep a clean soaking tub instead of tearing the bathroom apart.

Common questions about bathtub refinishing
How long does a refinished bathtub last?
With normal care, 10 to 15 years. Avoid abrasive cleaners and bath mats with suction cups, and it will keep its shine. The finish is backed by a 5-year adhesion warranty.
What’s the difference between refinishing, reglazing and resurfacing?
Three names for the same job. The surface is cleaned, repaired and etched, then a new coating is bonded to it. We say refinishing; you may have heard it called reglazing or resurfacing.
Is refinishing worth it, or should I replace the tub?
If the tub is sound, refinishing costs a fraction of replacement, takes one visit and doesn’t disturb the tile or plumbing. Replacement makes sense when the tub itself is failing or you’re redoing the whole bathroom.
What does bathtub refinishing cost?
Every tub is a little different, so we quote each job instead of publishing a price list. Text photos to (512) 452-4352 or use the form below and you’ll usually have a price the same day. If you’d rather we come out and look first, we’re happy to. Either way the quote is free, and refinishing costs a fraction of replacing the tub.
Can you do anything with a jetted tub?
Yes. We refinish jetted tubs, and when the jets have stopped working we remove them, fill the holes and refinish the tub as a soaker. More on jetted tubs.
Will it smell?
We ventilate the room while we work. If you’re sensitive to smell, ask for odor reduction: an odor-reducing additive, or a HEPA air filter we lend you until the finish cures.
Why do refinished tubs peel?
Almost always because the surface wasn’t prepared properly before the coating went on, or because the product wasn’t made for the job. Preparation is most of the work, and it’s why every refinish we do carries a 5-year adhesion warranty. If a coating from another company is peeling, we strip it and refinish the tub properly.
